Schizophrenia is a disease that affects about 1 percent of the population. Schizophrenic people are severely disturbed.Often they have delusions____false beliefs that cannot be corrected by logical argument.Sometimes they have hallucinations__experiences during which they see or hear things that are not there.
The schizophrenic person also suffers from extreme mood changes.In addition,she or he may respond inappropriately to a situation for instance,by laughing at the news of someone`s death.Schizophrenics frequently suffer from paranoia too.
There is some proof for thinking that schizophrenia has a physiological basis.Much promising has been done on genetic,or inherited factors as a cause of schizophrenia. schizophrenia has been shown to occur more frequently in the lowest social classes of urban populations.Another factor i serve stress.Although much work has been done,the causes of the illness is still not known.
